Many locally published ELT textbooks include local culture overwhelmingly as the effort to strengthen national character building. On the contrary, internationally published ELT textbooks ignore the inclusion of local culture as they are addressed for international market. In the light of English as an international language and to incorporate intercultural competence, ELT textbooks should contain local or source culture, target culture and international culture. This paper seeks to investigate the exploration of this culture in Turkish ELT textbooks for primary education.
